Children & Adolescents
"A child seldom needs a good talking to as a good listening to."
-Robert Breault
Kids and adolescents need support just as much as adults.
Therapy is an opportunity for kids and teens to learn valuable skills including:
-
Emotional expression and regulation
-
Self-confidence and self-advocacy
-
Stress management
-
Healthy and Effective communication
-
Conflict resolution
With children, I utilize a client-centered approach just as I do with adults. I apply a deep understanding of childhood developmental stages when working with young people. I have experience with creative arts therapies and play therapy, which helps me to access a child's view and understanding of the world differently than just talking might.
Above all else, I want all my clients to feel safe with me. I want them to feel comfortable sharing with me. It's my goal in working with young people to help them cultivate a sense of empowerment, self-worth, and confidence. I provide a space for adolescents to practice safe vulnerability, so they can get the support they need without fear of repercussion, shame, or judgment.
I am equipped to work with children on a variety of issues, including grief, trauma, coping with parents' divorce, school stressors, and difficult transitions.
Feel free to contact me for more information about therapy with children and adolescents. I am happy to answer any questions or address any concerns you may have.
